Al Smith Wows the WinterPledge Audience

Friday, November 30th, 2012

Our dear friend Al Smith returned to KET Thursday night.

Al and his lovely wife Martha Helen dropped by the studio for a special appearance on our fundraising campaign to talk about his new book, “Kentucky Cured: Fifty Years in Kentucky Journalism.”

Al, the host of Comment on Kentucky on KET for more than 30 years, has written two books in the last year and a half. “Wordsmith: My Life in Journalism” was Al’s memoir and was published last year.

Part of our fund drive this year will be to give all of Al’s fans and supporters an opportunity to attend a reception and book signing on January 8th, 2013.

Thursday night on KET, Al visited with my colleague Renee Shaw, who produced Al’s show for more than 12 years. They discussed his new book, among other things.  As always, Al was in rare form:

You can still get tickets to Al’s event by donating online or by calling 1-800-366-0366.

And thank you for supporting all of the programs seen on KET.
