The Student Voice Team, conceived and coordinated by Rachel Belin, Development Director of the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence, consists of 14 Central Kentucky high school students brought together at KET to plan a multimedia presentation suggesting the need to integrate successful students in the organization’s education policy decision-making process. As part of their 30-minute presentation, the group showed a video of final arguments at the Prichard Committee’s June 9, 2013 meeting at General Butler State Park in Carrollton, Kentucky.
Additionally, a member of the Youth Voices team, Ross Boggess, recorded the opinions of three high-achieving Central Kentucky students in KET’s Media Lab for a video describing the impact of parents on their academic success. His student-produced video project was also featured in the Student Voice Team’s multimedia presentation at the Prichard Committee spring meeting.
Ross Boggess and the Student Voices team were very well received by the Prichard Committee members and look forward to working with the committee as regular student advisers.
