Watch the full episode. See more Masterpiece.

One chapter of Masterpiece Mystery!’s summer of intrigue closes this weekend with the final episode in the Zen trio!

In the first episode, Detective Aurelio Zen deals with a politically charged murder and a vendetta-fueled killer who is after him. In the second episode, Zen investigates to find whether a disgraced aristocrat’s leap off a bridge was murder or suicide.

In the final episode, “Ratking,” a wealthy industrialist and political party funder is kidnapped, and the Ministry of Justice wants Zen to get the hostage back alive at any cost. But these kidnappers don’t seem to be playing by the rules: especially when they kill the lawyer who shows up with a ransom payment from the family. And that’s only the beginning.

Tony Bennett

American Masters profiles legendary crooner

Wednesday, July 27, 2011

Spend the evening with Tony Bennett: The man Frank Sinatra called “the best singer in the business” has been in it for more than 50 years, selling 50 million records and earning 15 Grammy Awards—including two at the age of 80.

The son of a grocer and Italian-born immigrant, Anthony Dominick Benedetto was born in 1926 in Astoria, Queens. He sang while waiting tables as a teenager and then performed with military bands in the Army during World War II. Bennett’s big break came in 1949 when Bob Hope noticed him working with Pearl Bailey in Greenwich Village in New York. Hope was the one who changed Bennett’s birth name to the one known around the world. And the rest, as they say, is history.

This episode of American Masters includes complete coverage of Bennett’s 2005 Monterey Jazz Festival performance and interviews at his home and painting studio.

American Masters’ “Tony Bennett: The Music Never Ends” airs Wednesday, July 27 at 8/7 pm CT on KET2.
