Health Three60

KET’s newest program examines important health issues and solutions in Kentucky

Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011

If you missed last night’s episode of Health Three60, don’t worry, you can watch it online! Just click here.

Health Three60, a new KET production, explores important health issues in Kentucky from a fresh perspective. The name represents the structure of the program: each show presents three sides of an issue in 60 minutes. The program, hosted by Renee Shaw, is a mix of studio and documentary segments.

In last night’s program, “Erasing the Stigma of Mental Illness,” Renee and her guests talked about the impact of stigma on people in Kentucky with severe and persistent mental illnesses, such as bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia and major depression, in human, economic and political terms.

The stigma associated with mental illness is not a new phenomenon; it has been a burden of mental illness throughout the history of humankind. Despite progress and advances in treatment practices, stigma persists even in modern society. The guests on this show, which include counselors, medical professionals and those living with a mental illness, discuss all this in terms of Kentucky’s culture and environment.

The premiere episode of Health Three60, “The New Face of Diabetes,” is also available to watch online by clicking here. The next program, “Probing Prescription Drug Use,” airs Monday, November 7 at 9/8 pm CT on KET.
