KET works alongside First Lady, Kentucky Environmental Education Council for new “green” Capitol Education Center

A new “green” learning facility for students and visitors at the Capitol Campus in Frankfort opened recently, and KET’s K-12 Instructional Resources team was engaged in its planning and development.
The kiosks feature a large collection of KET-produced digital media related to sustainability, history, civics and geography, including a group of new interactives and videos focused on the Capitol campus developed by KET especially for the center.
In addition to being organized by topic, the resources also are organized by season, so that kiosk content will change, depending upon whether visitors are in Frankfort in the winter, spring, summer, or fall.
During the February 8 ribbon-cutting ceremony for the center, First Lady Jane Beshear and Secretary Joseph Meyer, head of the Education and Workforce Development Cabinet, both recognized KET from the podium for its essential role in making the project a successful reality.
KET education resources featured at the center include, among others: Abe Across Kentucky, an interactive online game, and Water Solutions: Applying the Scientific Method, a video lesson based at the Bernheim Forest near Louisville. Learn more about the Capitol Education Center here.
