Frontline investigates horrific African Ebola outbreak

Frontline has just announced it will follow the health officials at the epicenter of the crisis who are tracking the deadly disease in “Ebola Outbreak,” airing Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 10/9 pm on KET.

With Ebola spreading out of control through West Africa, Frontline is on the ground with health officials urgently tracking infected people and trying to stop its rampant spread.

Using special access to Sierra Leone’s Ebola investigators, the program vividly shows how the unprecedented outbreak is endangering health care workers, overwhelming hospitals, and getting worse.

As of Wednesday, the CDC reported 1,975 cases and 1,069 deaths. A severe, often fatal disease, the Ebola virus is the cause of a viral hemorrhagic fever disease, and it does not have a known, proven treatment. No cases have been reported in the United States, according to the CDC.

Boko Haram

In addition, in this episode, Frontline investigates accounts that members of the Nigerian military have been committing atrocities in the fight against Boko Haram — the Islamist militants who kidnapped nearly 300 schoolgirls in April. Amid worldwide pressure to find the girls, Frontline uncovers shocking videos showing arrests, torture, and summary executions of alleged Boko Haram suspects.
