Astronaut talk

Area middle schoolers will talk to NASA space station astronaut at Jan. 11 EKU/KET partnership event

Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013

Update 1/14: Watch the entire NASA conversation online right now!

Eastern Kentucky University, KET and NASA are helping to make a dream come true for 23 area students who will talk with Tom Marshburn, an astronaut aboard the International Space Station. KET will air the Jan. 11 conversation live on air and online beginning at 9:40/8:40 a.m. on KET and at ket.org/live.

One hundred and sixty middle-school students from EKU’s service area were chosen from 46 schools to participate in the NASA downlink event.

KET is significantly extending the reach and excitement of this event by bringing it into classrooms throughout Kentucky. KET will also make the downlink session available for viewing anytime through its online resources for teachers and students and will produce digital learning resources.

“We look forward to partnering with EKU and NASA to bring this exciting event to students across the state,” said Shae Hopkins, executive director and CEO of KET. “Space exploration continues to inspire young minds and kindle an interest in science and technology. This will be an incredible opportunity for Kentucky students to learn directly from those astronauts conducting the latest pioneering studies.”

KET at State Fair

Friday, August 17 is KET Day at the Kentucky State Fair!

Sunday, August 12, 2012

Come on out to the Kentucky State Fair in Louisville on Friday, August 17 from 9 am to 7 pm and meet Curious George and our very own Dave Shuffett and his dog Toby, sign up for prizes, and receive a free KET shopping bag.

The KET booth was busy all day last year! When you stop by our booth, you can pick up the latest issue of Visions magazine, our must-have monthly guide for knowing what’s airing on KET and our latest events; tell us which shows are your favorite (let’s talk Downton!), and meet the staff members who help make KET great. Dave will also meet-and-greet with Kentucky Life fans and sign autographs.

Check out this Facebook photo album to see all the fun we had last year!
