Third Thursday Hangouts is an upcoming series of Hangouts that will occur for an hour once a month. The idea is to allow you to join from your desk, and not take you away from your important work. These Third Thursday Hangouts will cover topics of relevance to the Adult Education field – for the program, the instructor, and the student. The monthly session is an informal training that will start at 2:30 and finish at 3:30 pm Eastern Time Zone.
August’s Hangout is based around the use of Google Forms in Adult Education programs. The group will look at how some K-12 people using the resource, as well as an excellent form produced by Google for Teach Parents Tech (I would consider this a model). Beyond these uses of Forms, we will be looking at a how one Kentucky program uses it to schedule testing and orientation of students, as well as a form that is “under development” that will be used in a program’s enrollment process. We will brainstorm and think of other applications of Forms that participants think would be of use in their programs, and then have a quick “Nuts-and-Bolts” session on constructing a Form. All in an hour, phew!
I will be recording the event, and after the Hangout will place the video along with accompanying resources on this blog in the Presentations section.
I realize this is new to many people, so after you register, I will send you an e-mail that includes access to resources we use during our discussion, training videos about how to access Google Hangout, and so on. Further, to support first time instructors, or those that have some questions, I will start the sessions at 2:00, 30 minutes before the Third Thursday Hangout begins, to help flush out any tech glitches before the presentation begins: this process is fluid, and recommendations from participants like you will only make it better!

*Addendum I was trying to record the HANGOUT with Camtasia while running the online meeting. The computer started bogging down, so I stopped the recording. The Thursday, 9/19 Hangout will be Live, On Air, and therefore recorded. I look forward to sharing it with the field.
